Stanley R. Kopilow has been practicing law for 40 years. Mr. Kopilow received his Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Stony Brook and his Law Degree from Brooklyn Law School. He has been practicing law in New York ever since. He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office where he served in the District Court Bureau, the Grand Jury Bureau and Rackets and Organized Crime Bureau. His extensive prosecutorial experience is a valuable asset to clients charged with crimes such as DWI, possession and/or sale of drugs, assaults, homicides, larcenies and sex crimes and any other crime requiring a strong criminal defense.
Mr. Kopilow currently serves as the Prosecuting Attorney for the Villages of Hewlett Bay Park, Woodsburgh, and Plandome Manor and is general counsel to the Nassau County Bridge Authority. In addition to his service as an Assistant District Attorney for Nassau County, Mr. Kopilow has also been special counsel to the Nassau County Police Department and the Old Brookville Police Department.
Mr. Kopilow is admitted to the New York State Bar, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. He is also a member of the Nassau County Bar Association (Criminal Law and Procedure Committee and the Matrimonial Committee), the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County and the Former Assistant District Attorneys Association of Nassau County.
Mr. Kopilow’s practice emphasizes two areas of law: Criminal and Matrimonial. He handles criminal cases from initial police questioning through trial. He handles divorces from intake, through trial and even after in post-judgment motions.
